Obituary for Dana Rena Hood (Isaac)

Funeral services for Dana Hood of Athens, are scheduled for 2:00 p.m., Sunday, January 31, 2021 at Hannigan Smith Funeral Home with Rev. Scott Brown officiating. Interment will follow at New York Cemetery under the direction of Hannigan Smith Funeral Home.

Ms. Hood passed away January 27, 2021 in Athens.

Dana Rena (Isaac) Hood, 49 years young, was born April 23, 1971 in Athens, the daughter of Charles Edward Isaac and Glenda (DeShazo) Isaac. She was a devoted stay at home Nannie to her three grandsons whom she loved dearly and would attend all extra-curricular activities for. Dana was funny, kindhearted and would oftentimes say she would be forever 49. Her word of encouragement was to “just be nice and love one another.”

She is preceded in death by her father, Charles Isaac; sister, Carla Ann Lauderdale and nephew Michael Lauderdale.

Survivors include mother, Glenda Isaac of Athens; her daughter and best friend, Amanda Miller of Athens; grandchildren, Jerrit Ray, Davin Jackson, Drake Jackson; niece, Jana Lauderdale, great nephew, Preston Johnson and great niece, Kendall Johnson and many other family members and friends who loved her dearly.

Serving as pallbearers will be Amanda Miller, Charles Wilson, Haley Thomas, Chad Thomas, Melodee Braden and Justin Payne. Honorary pallbearers will be Jerrit Ray and Preston Johnson.

A visitation will be held Saturday, January 30, 2021 from 6-8:00 p.m. at Hannigan Smith Funeral Home.
