Obituary for Beverly Dennise Owens (Hester)
Funeral services for Beverly Owens, 67, of Palestine, are scheduled for 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, May 12, 2021 at Hannigan Smith Funeral Home of Athens with Bro. Scott Brown officiating. Interment will follow at Athens Cemetery under the direction of Hannigan Smith Funeral Home.
Mrs. Owens passed away May 7, 2021 in Palestine.
Beverly Dennise (Hester) Owens was born January 31, 1954 in Dallas, Texas, the daughter of Robert Joseph Hester and Edna Louise (Hilley) Hester. She graduated from Sunset High School in Dallas in 1972 and worked as an Accounting Supervisor with Oncor for 15 years. Beverly enjoyed knitting, crafting with her Cricut, reading and playing video games. She was a diehard fan of the Dallas Mavericks, Dallas Cowboys, Dallas Stars and Texas Rangers as well as a loyal viewer of General Hospital. Beverly was smart, funny, a great cook, a wonderful mother and fiercely loyal to her family.
She was preceded in death by her parents; paternal grandmother, Kathryn Hester and sisters, Vicki Mayne, Melodye Hall and Sharon Hester.
Survivors include husband of 23 years, Robert Owens of Palestine; children, Kimberly Kroha and husband John of Canton, Angie Ryan and spouse James Battaglini of Sydney, Australia, Geoff Woods and wife Cassie of Athens; brother, Craig Hester of Alvarado; grandchildren, Caroline Kroha, Christopher Harris, Cameron Harris, Alexis Woods and great grandchildren, Aiden and Brandon.
