Obituary for Bernie Ratliff Jr.

Mr. Ratliff passed away December 26, 2018 in Athens. He was born June 29, 1930 in Kendrick, Oklahoma. He served in the United States Air Force as military police. After nine years, he left the military to be baptized as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses in 1958 somewhere in North Texas. For years he hosted bible study and service meeting in his home in Garland. He loved Jehovah God with his whole heart and served him the remainder of his life.
Most people in Dallas new him as a hairdresser for over 40 years and he was dearly loved.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Bernie Ratliff, Sr. and Kitsey Marie (Howell) Howard; son, Douglas Ratliff; and half-sister, Clara Bias.
He is survived by his wife, Diane Ratliff; half-brother, John Howard; dear loved ones, Vicki and Mike Stone and Samuel Tresenriter. He was also dearly loved by Kaleen Murphy and Jayson Murphy and their children.
He had a saying that he loved: Love is sort of like a lizard. It wraps its tail around your heart and nibbles at your gizzard. At the end, he ate my whole gizzard. Not only was my husband my husband, but he was my very best friend. He will be sorely missed by everyone who knew him.
