Obituary for Bernardo Arteaga
A Funeral Mass for Bernardo Arteaga of Athens is scheduled for 10:00 am, Friday, July 5, 2019 at St. Edwards Catholic Church with Father Charles Vreeland officiating. Interment will follow at Athens Cemetery.
Bernardo passed away on July 2, 2019 in Athens.
Bernardo Cabrera Arteaga was born August 20, 1957 in Tlalcosahua, Jalisco Mexico, the son of Jose De Jesus Madera Arteaga and Nicolasa Cabrera Castillo. He was a member of the St. Edwards Catholic Church. Bernardo loved life. He enjoyed cooking out and spending time with his family, especially his grandkids. He was a hard worker who spent many hours in the oil field providing for his family. He will be greatly missed by all he knew and loved.
He is preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Luis Arteaga.
Bernardo is survived by his loving wife Maria De La Paz Castaneda Arteaga of Athens; four daughters, Mayra Arteaga Garcia and Jaime Garcia of Athens, Karina Arteaga and Faustino Leanos of Huntsville, Vanessa Arteaga and Jose Manuel Leanos of Athens, Alondra Arteaga of Athens; ten siblings and six grandchildren, Armani Garcia, Gianni Garcia, Emily Leanos, Alison Leanos, Julie Leanos and Damian Leanos.
Serving as pallbearers will be Alfredo Arteaga, Mauricio Arteaga, Faustino Leanos, Jaime Garcia, Oscar Valasquez and Rolando Garcia.
Visitation will be held from 5-7:00 pm with a Rosary starting at 7:00 pm on Thursday, July 4, 2019 at the Hannigan Smith Funeral Home.
