Obituary for Allen Taylor Lunceford
Funeral services for Allen Lunceford, 74, of Athens, are scheduled for 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, June 28, 2022, at the Hannigan Smith Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Jeff Corey officiating. Interment will follow at Athens Cemetery under the direction of Hannigan Smith Funeral Home.
Mr. Lunceford passed away June 22, 2022, in Athens.
Allen Taylor Lunceford was born July 1, 1947, in Odessa, Texas the son of Zachary Taylor Lunceford and Nora Mae (Canant) Lunceford. He was a member of the China Grove Baptist Church and was a heavy equipment mechanic for the City of Dallas for many years. He enjoyed spending time outdoors fishing, hunting rocks and arrow heads, going to Big Bend and the Davis Mountains and especially loved eating East Texas tomatoes. Allen was a U.S. Army Veteran of the Vietnam War and proudly held lifetime memberships to the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the Vietnam Veterans of America organizations. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather who never met a stranger, loved talking to everyone he met and will be greatly missed.
He is preceded in death by his parents; one son Brandon Lunceford and two sisters, Patricia Ann Lunceford and Videra Domingo Lunceford.
Survivors include his loving wife Hollie Lunceford of Athens; daughter, Theresa Ann Bennett and husband David of Canton; four grandchildren, Hunter Bennett, Hagen Bennett and wife Laura, Zachary Lunceford, Madison Lunceford; four great grandchildren, Frank Bennett, Hallie Bennett, Maggie Bennett, Clay St. John and numerous cousins.
A visitation will be held from 6-8:00 p.m., Monday, June 27, 2022, at Hannigan Smith Funeral Home in Athens.
In lieu of flowers the family would like donations to be made in his memory to:
Vietnam Veterans of America or the Veterans of Foreign Wars
