Obituary for Vinson Mounts

Athens – A Memorial Service for Vinson Mounts, 74, of Tyler, Texas will be held at 3:00 P.M. on Saturday, January 28, 2017 at Hannigan Smith Funeral Home of Athens and will be officiated by
Rev. Londan Davis.

Mr. Mounts passed away on January 24, 2017 in Tyler, Texas.

Vinson Mounts was born March 17, 1942 in Freeburn, Kentucky the son of Hollie Mounts and Pearl Fields Mounts. He was a Pentecostal by faith and known as a hard worker. He grew up in the Coal Mines in Kentucky and retired after many years of service. He enjoyed the outdoors working on cars and fishing and hunting in his younger years. In his spare time, he enjoyed watching old westerns. PaPaw’s true joy came when spending time with family, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren. Vinson was a family man who will be missed by all he knew and loved.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister Faye Vance and three brothers, Vance Mounts, Troy Dyer and James Dyer.

He is survived by his loving wife of 36 years Ruby Mae Asher Mounts of Tyler; seven children, Tina Sims and husband Ray of Athens, Janet Wolfe and husband James of Gun Barrel City, Vinson Mounts and wife Amanda of Mabank, Shelia Cooper and husband Chris of Tyler, Shawna Fuller of Kettering, Ohio, Hollie Mounts and his wife Pam of Gun Barrel City, Teresa Mounts and fiancé Ken Brown of Tyler; two sisters, Brenda Gross and husband Gene of Freeburn, Kentucky, Dottie Smith of Fairborn, Ohio; thirteen grandchildren, Tracy Sims, Ashley Brown, Malea Sims, Cheyenne Sims, Gillian Turner, Lexi Turner, Haley Cooper, Alex Fuller, Izzy Dong, Kolten Mounts, Aiden Mounts, Kaleb Perkins, Kaydance Mounts; six great grandchildren, Brooklyn Sims, Brantley Sims, Chace Bohannon, Peyton Johnson, Karsyn Brown, Wyatt Brown; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and his favorite girl Bella.

Arrangements were entrusted to the Hannigan Smith Funeral Home of Athens.
