Obituary for Coy Delbert Rice

Funeral Services for Coy Delbert Rice will be held on Monday, August 15, 2016 at 11:00 AM at the Fellowship Church in Athens with Bro. Mike Dean officiating. Burial will follow at 3:30 PM at McDonald Cemetery in New Summerfield, TX. Services are under the direction of the Hannigan Smith Funeral Home Family of Athens.

Mr. Rice went to be with his Lord and Savior on Thursday, August 11, 2016.

Coy Delbert Rice, 89, was born on October 25, 1926 in Forest, TX, son of James Arther Rice and Mary Eva McCright Rice. He married Alice Mae Collins on June 11, 1994 at Atoy Baptist Church and was an Aircraft Machinist and Lead Man for Vaught Air Craft for 45 years. Coy was a Deacon at Fellowship Baptist Church and was in the Shepherds Sunday School Class. He loved hunting, fishing tournaments, but most of all, his grandchildren. He was a wonderful man who will truly be missed by all who knew him.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Irene Cline, Ila Mae Money, Marie Self, Kate Self, Margaret Smith, Janeth Menchew, Evelyn Waggoner, and Kathy Rice; and brother Roy Rice; sons, Glen and Willard Bolyard.

He is survived by his wife, Alice of Athens; children, Vickey Rice of Fort Worth, Michael Rice and wife Terry of Granbury, David Rice of Teague, Carolyn James and husband Terry of Houston, Dianne Muecke of Athens, Jeff Bolyard of Houston, and Peggy Shirley of Houston; grandchildren, Michael Grady, Kevin Grady, Candice Rice, Damon Rice, Austin Rice, Courtney Rice, Matthew Michaels, Christopher Michaels, Nicolas Michaels, Ryan Michaels, Russell Dyson, Derek James, James Gibson, Jamie Rebando, Christian Akina, and Lesley Malloy.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, August 14, 2016 from 6:00-8:00 PM at Hannigan Smith Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, the family would like memorials to be made to the Fellowship Baptist Church, 2619 TX-7 Loop, Athens, TX 75751. Or to Kindred Hospice, 1750 Enterprise St. Suite 100 Athens, TX 75751.
